Computer Tips

There are a number of settings on your computer that can help you interact effectively with HCAI.

Trusted Site

In general, your interactions with HCAI will go more smoothly if you make HCAI a "trusted site" in you browser settings. Here's how: In Internet Explorer, select Internet Options from the Tools menu, then click the Security tab. Under Select a zone to view or change security settings, click Trusted Sites, then click on the Sites button. Under Add this website to the zone, enter "https://www.hcai.ca" and click the Add button. Your browser will now accept cookies from HCAI and has the right security settings to work with HCAI.

Check for Newer Version

Internet Explorer stores copies of web pages for faster viewing later. Because HCAI pages change frequently, you want your browser to automatically check for the latest version of the page. Here's how: In Internet Explorer, select Internet Options from the Tools menu, then click the General tab. Under Browsing History, click the Settings button. Under Check for newer versions of stored pages, make sure that "Automatically" is selected, then click OK.

Cookies

Cookies are used as part of the process to log onto the HCAI application at www.hcai.ca, verify identity and maintain security. To use HCAI, your web browser needs to allow cookies. If you have added HCAI to your "trusted sites", your browser will accept cookies from HCAI.

Pop-ups

HCAI uses pop-ups to help you navigate through the various pages and forms on the site. In order to use HCAI, you need to set your browser to allow pop-ups. Here's how: In Internet Explorer, select Pop-up Blocker from the Tools menu, then Pop-up Blocker Settings. Under Address of website to allow, enter "https://www.hcai.ca" and click the Add button. Your browser will now allow pop-ups on the HCAI site.

To Ensure You Can Receive HCAI Emails

HCAI automatically generates notification emails that your email system may interpret as "junk mail". Microsoft Outlook may automatically put these emails in your Junk Mail folder. If this is happening to you, go into your "Junk E-mail" folder, right-click on an email from HCAI and select Junk E-mail, then Add Senders Domain (example: @hcai.ca) to Safe Senders List. If your company email system is blocking HCAI emails before they ever get to you, you need to contact your internal helpdesk and ask them to add @hcai.ca to the company's "white list".
