About HCAI

Health Claims for Auto Insurance (HCAI) is an electronic system for transmitting auto insurance claim forms between insurers and health care facilities in Ontario. HCAI is administered by Health Claims for Auto Insurance Processing (HCAI Processing), a not-for-profit organization.

An initiative of Ontario auto insurers, working closely with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), the Ontario Ministry of Finance, various medical rehabilitation provider associations and other stakeholders, HCAI aligns insurers and health care facilities on a common platform using common business rules and a common approach to education.

As a result of aligning health care facilities and auto insurers, HCAI benefits all Ontarians by streamlining the claims handling process and helping to monitor the overall health of the auto insurance system.  HCAI improves the speed and accuracy of the data being exchanged between Ontario health care facilities and insurers, benefiting the delivery of patient care.
