HCAI Update: Release 3.27 Goes Live May 2, 2022 / March 3, 2022

HCAI System Release 3.27 will go live on May 2, 2022, and is the first of two releases scheduled for this year. This bulletin provides an overview of the enhancements included in the release.

Here’s what you need to know about Release 3.27:

1. Updates to CCI/ICD Codes

The CCI and ICD-10-CA codes in HCAI will be updated to the 2021 versions of the Canadian Institute for Health Information’s (CIHI) codes. Once Release 3.27 goes live, the updated code descriptions will be available to select on OCFs.

As a reminder, within your OCF, you can use the Code Search tool in the ‘Code’ column by clicking the blue "..." ellipsis button to open the search window. From there, you may further drill down your search, locate the code needed and click the “Add” button to add the code to your OCF.

2. Document Updates

Effective June 8, 2019, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) assumed the regulatory functions of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO). In Release 3.27, HCAI is updating several enrolment documents to reflect that FSRA is now the regulator.

The documents that will be updated include the Affiliated and Dependant Provider forms, the HCAI Enrolment form, and the Electronic Access Terms and Conditions. Please visit the Get Approved and Set Up page of HCAIinfo.ca if you would like to view the updated language. The updated Terms and Conditions will apply as of May 2, 2022. No further action is required on your part.

3. New Popup Message to Assist with Data Accuracy

HCAI is implementing a helpful feature to guide users when creating OCFs. If the current date is entered into the “Date of Accident” field, a new popup message will ask, “Are you sure the Date of Accident is today’s date?” This will help users ensure data accuracy when completing forms.

Please note that the message will only be available when creating OCFs on the HCAI web application.

System Outages

An HCAI outage is needed before every new system release in order to implement the changes. In preparation for Release 3.27, the following system unavailability window is planned:

Friday, April 29 – Monday, May 2, 2022

  • The HCAI system will be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. (EDT) Friday, April 29, 2022 and is expected to resume active status at 8:00 a.m. (EDT) Monday, May 2, 2022.
  • Every facility must have their transactions successfully processed by 4:59 p.m. (EDT) Friday, April 29, 2022.
